Halloween Treat Bags and Favors!
We all love Halloween. The decorations, the costumes, the candy,
the fun with family and friends. For those of you with kids you know how
big the season is and how much there is to do; the costumes, the
decorations, the parties, and of course sweets and treats. I'm sure you
are already thinking about what to do with all that candy, and how to
limit it, without limiting the fun. I was very surprised to hear that my
daughter's preschool wouldn't be having sweet treats during their
Halloween party; because it will be taking place only hours before all
the children head out trick-or-treating and the sugar high really
starts. After the idea had some time to set in though I'm actually all
for it. The kids are going to be so excited to be in their costumes and
have their parents at school, no one is going to miss the sweets. Not to
mention that later that night when I'm trying to keep count of how much
candy she's had I don't have to worry about how much she had earlier in
the day too. On a personal note, I was also excited for the challenge
to come up with something just as creative, fun and tasty as the sweet
options that I wouldn't be making for the party. Candy might be the easy
answer but that doesn't mean it's the only, best or most fun!
Getting back to too much candy though - I have been trying to come up with alternative treats. Things that are not food related but are a fun little Halloween surprise that could take the place of treats for the classroom, party, or even trick-or-treaters. I've put together a collection mini-bags as simple as Halloween stickers, holiday shaped crayons and drawings pads, or a little Halloween craft. These are all things anyone can make themselves or purchase with all the work done for you.
My favorite is a Halloween coloring bag. It could include a cute little bag with a couple fun Halloween notepads and a cute Halloween shaped crayon. Packaged together in a simple little bag.
Another simple favorite that anyone can do is a sticker bags! What kid doesn't love stickers! A cute bag filled with a collection of Halloween stickers is sure to make any little one just as happy as any sweet treat.
If you feel like getting a little more creative you could put together a little craft. Maybe a pumpkin shape that needs decorating or a mask that needs coloring.
Regardless, of what idea you like best the important part to remember is that there are far more options out there beyond candy to make Halloween fun!
