This Winter, Be a Bit Extra Careful About Your Child
It is no surprise that children love spending time outside even
when the weather is extremely rough outside. With the arrival of winter
their enthusiasm and energy both get heightened. But restricting them
from having fun and playing outdoor games are truly equivalent to being
cruel to them. It is like not letting them fully enjoy one of the most
beautiful seasons and depriving them from its pleasures. Thus, it is
better to take some safety measures, so as to allow them to make the
most of winter.
Prevention is Better Than Cure!
Winter is the time when children are mostly susceptible to diseases like flu, colds, infections, cough, viruses and many more. Parents should apply different ways to prevent these symptoms from appearing. Those simple yet effective ways are:
Diet: Your kids should maintain a healthy diet. Make sure they consume required amounts of fresh vegetables and fruits. Make them soups with those vegetables. Good nutrition, is very crucial for a strong immunity system. So increase their intake of minerals, vitamins and antioxidants. They should drink plenty of water too.
Exercise: Physical exercise is extremely necessary irrespective of seasons. This will help your kids stay healthy even in chilly weather. During winter it is better for them to refrain from swimming and relying on free hand activities.
Rest: To stay away from illness, proper amounts of rest is required. Rest is more essential when your child suffers from flu or infections. It cures their illnesses faster. Ask them to lie down in sunlight for sometime during the winter.
Clothes: It will be sensible on any parent's part to keep their kids warm by covering them adequately. They must wear appropriate clothes as per the temperature. Cover them properly with a quilt when they sleep at a wintry night.
Skin Care is Mandatory!
As temperature starts fluctuating, especially decreasing, your baby's skin begins to get highly affected. Do not let winter be hard on your kid's delicate skin. Follow the below mentioned precautions to save their hide from damages.
Apply moisturizer: Ask a pediatrician to recommend a good quality moisturizer or lotion to keep your child's skin hydrated. Avoid rubbing their dry skin with a scrubber. Bathe him with a scent-free body shampoo and put moisturizer all over his body as soon as possible.
Massage oil: For a baby's skin the best and most effective item is oil. While bathing the natural oil of their body gets drained away. Massaging oil on their body will help restore those oils and soothe the whole body.
Cover them well:Cover most parts of your little one's body from the exposure to sun or cold. It will make the skin less dry and will cause little damage. Apply sunscreen to the exposed body parts before they go out in the sun.
As a parent you must always be careful with your children's safety even during winter. Bathe them only with lukewarm water. If they are too ill take them to a pediatrician as quickly as possible. Watch out, when they play outside or ski in the snow. Help them enjoy their winter vacation more and celebrate Christmas in a happier as well as safer way.
