Winning Is Like Science

Winning Is Like Science

Have you ever heard of potential energy? How about kinetic energy? What about the laws of science that says an object at rest tends to stay at rest, and an object in motion tends to stay in motion? Of course you have! Anybody who has ever attended school has also attended a few science classes and has at least heard of these laws of science, even if they don't remember everything about them, right?

So now you're probably wondering what does a few science classes have to do with winning, aren't you? Well, the simple answer my little aspiring scientists is EVERYTHING! That's right! You really can use the stuff you learned in school out in the real world! And there really was a good reason for your teacher teaching you all those scientific laws even if you couldn't figure out what the use was at the time...

So, now let's try one of these school-related scientific principles out in the real world. Imagine trying to push a stalled car. The hardest part of pushing a car at rest is to get it out of a dead stop. Once we budge that car just a little bit and the tires start to slowly roll then even a 2,000-pound automobile becomes easy to continue to push and move, right? The hardest part of pushing the stalled car is the beginning. The rest of the motion becomes easy due to momentum or kinetic energy.

Well, I'm here today to tell you about your potential energy and that establishing behaviors and habits of leadership and winning are also difficult at first. But, once we initiate a pattern of productive behaviors we'll gain some momentum, and then leadership and winning will come quicker and easier than it did before. You see, leadership and winning are just like pushing that car, hard at first and then much easier afterwards.

So the biggest obstacle is really in just getting started. Now that we know this, we can no longer let the START stop us. We can no longer just let life happen. We shouldn't blindly turn over control of our future, our dreams, and our destiny to our own weak and flawed human natural tendencies of laziness and indifference when dealing with our own stalled progress.
Now teens and even tweens, go learn, lead, and lay the way to a better world for all of us. Remember that winning is like a science. It takes more effort to put succeeding into motion than to keep it in motion. And once again, thanks in advance for all that you do, and all that you will do...

Award-Winning Author, Speaker, and Educator Dan Blanchard wants you to apply the scientific principles that you were taught in school to winning outside of school!
