Food for Kids Parties
People always remember the birthday parties they had as a kid.
This is why Mums strive to make their kids parties really special. Here
are some kid's party ideas you can use to make your child's birthday
party extra fun and safe.
Put Foods on a Stick
Putting foods on a stick serves two purposes. First, it has a more festive spirit and kids have a lot of fun eating food off a stick. Second, the kids won't need a utensil to eat it. When kids are playing and rough housing, it is not a good idea to have forks around since someone could get hurt from the pointed edges. You can put just about any food on a stick: small pieces of frosted cake, cut-up fruit, mini popcorn balls, and of course candy. You can also get really creative. For example, you can put marshmallows on a stick and roll them in ground up hard candy of different colours and textures. In the light, these candy coated marshmallows will sparkle!
Try To Use Every Colour of the Rainbow
Even if your party has a colour theme, for at least some of the food items you serve, try to use every colour of the rainbow. Kids are very attracted to bright colours and the assortment of colours will put them in a happy mood. Try to use natural food dyes instead of dyes that are derived from chemicals as many kids become more aggressive and exhibit other behavioural issues when they ingest artificial dyes.
Don't Serve Only Sweet Foods
Be sure to balance out the sugar the kids will be eating with some kid friendly savory foods as well. You can never go wrong with corn dogs, pizza rolls, grilled cheese sandwiches, and vegetable sticks served with dip. To get a little more protein into the kids to counteract the sugar, you could prepare a dip that contains cheese.
Be Alert To Food Allergies
If possible, ask the parents of all the kids who will be attending the party if they have any food allergies. If someone has a severe allergy, you may want to avoid serving that food altogether to avoid having them eating it accidentally. Since many kids have peanut and nut allergies, you may also want to consider not including these ingredients in any of the party foods you serve.
Hopefully, these kids party ideas will get your creative juices flowing. As a final piece of advice, it's best to bring the food out in waves rather than all at once so you'll have less waste and it will stay more attractive. Good luck!
