Kids and Teens ( Things to Do With the Kids in Bodmin, Cornwall )

The summer holidays are upon us which means that excitable kids are desperate for things to do and places to go. With plenty of sunshine and scorching temperatures across the UK over recent weeks, Cornwall is the perfect place to visit with children of all ages. The concern for many parents however is dealing with huge crowds of likeminded people and spending all day queuing rather than being out there having fun.
If you love Cornwall but fancy somewhere a bit less crowded, then Bodmin is the place for you. It doesn't tend to attract as many tourists as the more well-known areas in Cornwall but there is still plenty to keep families entertained. Boasting far more than just self storage in Bodmin, this seaside town offers everything you could possibly need for a day trip, weekend away or holiday.
Bodmin and Wenford Railway
This steam railway boasts a 6 and a half mile line and four unique stations to explore. It's so popular that even Thomas the Tank Engine is regularly spotted here. There are plenty of activities going on throughout the year and visitors can go back in time by travelling in the heritage carriages. A leisurely 13-mile round trip through the beautiful Cornwall countryside can be enjoyed and there are also plenty of food options available and somewhere to pick up a souvenir or two.
Dragon Leisure Centre
Not only does Dragon Leisure Centre have more than enough to keep children entertained all day long, it is also perfect for those rainy summer days that normally leave you stuck for something to do. Boasting a six-lane indoor swimming pool complete with a flume and learner pool, there are hours of fun to be had here. There is also a soft play centre, gym, tennis, badminton, squash, all-weather football, hockey and a cafe/bar once everyone has worked up an appetite.
Cardinham Woods
This beautiful mixed woodland is perfect for children who have an active imagination and love to explore. With a choice of waymarked trails that take visitors deep into the woods, it's here you can discover the most stunning views and an intriguing, hidden history. There is also a play area for children for those moments when you need a rest as well as a cafe that serves a variety of hot and cold food.
Lanhydrock
Nature lovers will feel right at home at Lanhydrock. A National Trust managed estate, this attraction boasts a house, gardens, a huge woodland, parks and riverside paths. It's absolutely ideal for long summer days when you fancy doing something a bit quieter. Kids will particularly love the touch and discover tables, the train trail that goes around the house, the school room, the Victorian toys and the adventure playground.
