Stick Horses, A Child's Favorite
Inside every child is a great imagination. The pretend world is
full of so many things but we are stifling the imagination of children
by allowing them to use so many electronic toys, TV and toys that take
batteries. How many toys are played with if the batteries are dead? How
much money is spent each year on batteries and then thrown in the trash?
When my kids were small, their aunt made them some stick horses for Christmas. That became their favorite toy for years. In fact, my daughter still has it as a keepsake. I've taken that idea of their favorite toy and have turned it into a thriving business of making handmade stick horses.
We make wooden ones that have soft yarn manes, real leather ears and comes with a "bit" and leather reins. They come in a variety of colors and are superior to any that you will find in a large box store.
The ones that my children received were fabric ones and I have made many since we started making them in 2007. They come in a variety of colors and they too have soft yarn manes and real leather reins.
While sometimes it's nice to order a gift or a toy that is complete when you take it out of the box, there are other options for people who want to make their own stick horse and make it personal to them.
For those people, we have a wooden stick horse kit. This comes with different options but a complete kit is what most people purchase. We send a head that has been sanded smooth, the edges are routed so there are no sharp edges and holes are drilled. These can be stained, painted, varnished or left natural...
it's all up to you and your child! The riding stick and hand hold is included along with eyes and the leather reins. For ears and manes, you have you choice of many colors and combinations to choose from to make the stick horse uniquely yours that you have made. We send instructions along and if you have any questions, we're only a phone call or email away but people have told us that they've had a wonderful time with their children and/or grandchildren putting them together. A great bonding and a great memory making project that will become more than just a toy.
We sell many stick horses and try to keep them in stock so turn around time is very short and many times they are shipped the same day we receive the order.
Whether they're wood or soft polyfleece, these handmade stick horses that we make in our Indiana shop will get your little one galloping and trotting into their imaginary world!
